Simon Darby, I thought it was common knowledge that Rat Poison (Warfarin) induced a madness for water
inthe target. Rats or dogs that ingest warfarin will go to great lengths to find the nearest water supply.
Hence your rats in the watering can.
I used to find then regularly in my water butt. Thanks to a neighbour who put down warfarin regularly.
I wired over my water butt.

Re. John Ryde. A good send off with up to 200 people at the Crem. Very happy to see the Rev. Robert West travelling a good distance to attend. Would have liked to see some of the top brass there.

HALF A TOOTH

Last year I suffered the saga of half a toenail.
Only just into 2010 and the story changes to half a tooth.
Only about five and a half feet apart on the blood circulatory system but equally painful.
A year ago a left side molar decided that after 70 years of fillings and antibiotics it would give up the ghost. Well most of it decided. The exposed half crumbled when trying to do its job on a piece of steak! It left just two walls standing while the root was still attached to my jawbone.
My visit to the NHS dentist coincided with my six monthly check up. Cost £16.50. He advised extraction. Cost £29.50. I agreed and about a month later he did the extraction. Well actually he didn’t do the extraction.
What he did was to break off the two vertical walls outside the gum and leave me with a hole into the root which was still firmly embedded in my gum. Time taken ten minutes. His excuse was that he had, Quote, “Run out of time on this one”. NHS dental targets I expect.
I was advised that as I was not in pain, and I quote, “Leave it until it becomes troublesome and then we will deal with it”.
Six months later another check up. By now the gum was receding and I had two sharp edges protruding. Despite my best efforts my tongue insisted on finding the sharp edges. Naturally this resulted in a continual aggravation of blisters on my tongue.

A short discussion with the dentist and he proffered the advice. Again I quote, “If you want it removed you will have visit Leicester Royal Infirmary (14miles away) as we cannot do that here. It will need a surgical extraction and stitches”.

Six months later another check-up. Great stuff a new dentist had opened a couple of miles away. I registered and ditched the previous.
First visit to the new guy. Check of existing condition. No names mentioned but he was appalled but not surprised that my mouth had been left so uncomfortable for a whole year.
He offered to do the extraction himself that same afternoon. 4pm I was in the chair, the extraction took just ten minutes, was completely painless and did not require stitches. 24 hours later I was eating a normal lunch and was rid of an aggravation that had troubled me for over a year. Cost £29.50.

Good value for money ,but what was going on with the previous ?
If any one can make sense of that merry-go-round I am all ears.

7. A case of P.C. in Reception.

My wife and I arrived back in England during January 2006.After a few months, I think around June of that year my wife suffered inflammation and swelling of the left leg. This condition necessitated the use of a walking stick. The leg became quite painful and eventually there was no option but a visit to the surgery. We had registered and been to the surgery for a health check and had been accepted as patients. We had also had ’flu jabs so we were known to the receptionists. I was about to enjoy my first experience of the madness of the politically correct brigade.
On the day in question it was raining intermittently but the showers were quite heavy. I helped my wife into the surgery and she took a seat. I spoke to the receptionist explaining that I had brought my wife for her appointment and because she was walking with some difficulty I would be calling back to collect her a little later on. Probably 30 to 40 minutes. I was assured there was no problem with that procedure.
I returned to the surgery about 40 minutes later. My wife was not in the waiting room. Naturally I thought she may still be with the doctor. I asked the receptionist if my wife was still with the doctor or had she left. What happened next made my blood boil. In fact I still get angry when I discuss it.
The receptionist gave me that pained expression that I think all the do-gooder types must practice in front of a mirror and then, with a sweet, eyes only smile, that implied, ‘I am not here to help’ she said, “I’m sorry sir, but I can’t tell you that”.
I was stunned. For fully thirty seconds we stared at each other. I recovered enough to say “What?” She replied with exactly the same facial expression and tone, “ I’m sorry sir, but I can’t tell you that, It is privileged information and I am not allowed to give patients details”.
I said, “But I’ve just left her here with you and its pouring with rain and she has difficulty walking”.
She repeated again what she had already said twice and then added “I’m sorry but it’s private information that we are not allowed to give out“.
Flabbergasted I could do nothing but stare. We locked eyes and I stood this time counting slowly to ten. After what seemed an eternity I thought better of venting my feelings and walked out.
I drove home, about one kilometre. No wife. I drove back to the surgery, still no sign of my wife, gave the receptionist another icy stare and left. I decide to visit the chemists about 200 yards away on the off chance she had been given a prescription. Sure enough she was waiting there for her prescription.
Now, we are not talking here about a hot blooded young chap charging into reception looking for his wife, knife in hand or whatever. I am a seventy five year old gent, married to my wife for fifty two years and concerned only for her well being. I needed the receptionist’s sickly, condescending grin even less than I needed her rule book waved in my face. Sadly that is the way of the lunatic left and their chair polishing employees.
Things could have been handled with a little common sense, a commodity that is all too lacking among the politically correct lefties and their dealings with the public..

It is my intention to use this site to make political comments based on common sense and my own observations rather than simply quoting from the establishment policies. Sometimes humorous, sympathetic. sarcastic even poetic but always wisiwim.

I do not have the luxury of teams of researchers or ghost writers etc. Hence WISIWIM or, What I Say Is What I Mean.
So what I will be writing is simply what I believe to be the true state of affairs of any situation or public service after stripping the political gobbledegook so often used to disguise the truth.
What do I mean by gobbledegook? Well, probably the best example I can offer is from the very top of the tree that is about to be felled!

Mr Gordon Clown himself.

Take a look at the following list, all topics with which he has busy bodied himself during the last twelve months.
Global warming, carbon emissions, the economy, unemployment, the benefits system, the decline of industry, uncontrolled immigration, the breakdown of law and order, the criminal justice system, MPs expenses, Islam and terrorism, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and dozens of others too numerous to mention.

No matter where in the world he happens to be, no matter which of the above topics is under discussion, his stock answer is always, any mix or all of the following phrases.
“I intend, to do whatever it takes, whatever is necessary, whatever the situation demands, to resolve this matter, in the best interests of the British people, and/or the British nation, and I am the best man to lead this country through these troubled times, until a resolution is reached etc, etc, etc. etc.”
Never once does define what he means. There are no specifics. No, I will do this or I will do that. Just the usual vague references to some obscure plan of action that never becomes a reality.

Never before in the history of human verbiage has so much been said, to convey so little, to so many. Apologies to Winston Churchill.

That is why he is ridiculed internationally. I have come to look upon him as being like a parachutist in freefall. Every time he opens his mouth he ties another knot in the strings of his ‘chute.

OK. Having established what is gobbledegook, and given you an idea of my intentions with regard to my blog I hope you will come again and invite your friends. If you don’t like it keep away, you will not be missed.
